What Makes A Good Game?

This is a question seems to pop up in my head every now and again. What exactly DOES make a good game? Is it a score? Well, for people like me, it's hard to represent my enjoyment in a game with something like a number, so it's not that for me. Is it sales? Sorry, but I don't go to a store and think "Hey, this game sold a lot of copies, surely it'll be good." Is it brand recognition? Well, some games have a sort of stigma where you compare it to another game within the same franchise or a another game that is developed by the same company, but I try to judge a game on its own merits. I don't care if New Mario Wii plays so similar to New Mario U, if its still fun, I'm gonna play it. No, I find that for a game to be good to me are the ones that I'll go back to play again even after I've finished. Games that I enjoyed playing years ago and go back to and still enjoy. The games that are just as fun now as they were back when I first played them. Now I would like to hear from all of you, all five of you, ha ha ha (I'M SO ALONE DX). What makes a good game for you? A game that stands out among the rest? Please go to the comment section below and let your voice be heard.

What's A Gamer?

This is a question I've kind of asked myself. What exactly DOES make a gamer? Is there some sort of prerequisite to become a gamer? Do you have to go through some sort of test or ordeal like a College Sorority? I hate to be so black and white about this but I don't think so at all. To me, as long as you play video games, it doesn't matter how many games you play, how often you play them, or what kinds of games you play. I think that as long as you play games and you enjoy what you play then you're a gamer to me. It doesn't matter if you play Call of Duty, or Mario, or even Flappy Bird on your phone. Now I'd like to hear from you, yes YOU. What do you think makes a gamer? Please go down to the comment section below and I'll be sure to respond to you.

This Is Harder Than I Thought

Man, coming up with topics to talk about is a lot harder than I thought. I mean, I could talk about things other than video games, but WHERE'S THE FUN IN THAT? (obvioussarcasmisobvious). If anybody wants for me to talk about anything, and I do mean anything, then please write a comment at the bottom of this post and I'll be sure to answer it. Just as long as it's SFW.

...

So I was going through the TGWTG website yesterday and I came across this article here.

http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/site-news/general-updates/42083-a-farewell-to-justin-carmical-jewwario

For those who don't know Justin Carmical, also know as JewWario, had a show called "You Can Play This", a show where he reviewed retro video games that were imported from Japan. I never met the guy personally but I was a big fan of his work and he had gotten me interested in playing Japanese imports. All I can do is just give my condolences to his friends and family and wish them all the best.

So... This is a Thing

I'm not exactly sure how to start this, but what the heck I'll give it a shot. This is essentially going to be a blog of my experiences being a gamer for nearly 16 years of my life, and as someone who's 18 going on 19, that says a lot about my life. Video games have changed my life, both in where I want to take it and my way of thinking in a way that no other hobby has. As the title implies I'm definitely more jaded when it concerns certain games of certain genres, although I've been trying to become more unbiased. On that same note there are some things where the rose tinted glasses are laid on so thick that it's a wonder that they aren't infused into my head. If anybody has anything that anybody would like for me to write about or would like to give me some constructive criticism, then I insist and would be more than happy to answer that.
